We’re very excited to be giving away two copies of the JHP 2016/2017 Gourmet Guide from my friends at MapStudio.
This beautiful hard copy publication is my bucket list of South African restaurants to visit. Author Jenny Handley, an experienced food writer, introduces you to the chefs and opens the doors to 100 of the top restaurants in the country.
Besides the delectable recipes from the featured chefs and the outstanding photography, the Gourmet Guide includes contact details, a map and GPS coordinates of each restaurant. The top 21 restaurants are ‘plated’, a rating given by independent judging – no restaurant paid to be included in the publication. Take a whirlwind tour of these exceptional restaurants, look inside and learn a little of their history and uniqueness. Then make it your mission to visit as many as you can – this is a list of the places that are here to stay!
The Gourmet Guide is a must-have for any foodie interested in how food is transformed into art, and what inspires our top chefs. Many of the chefs featured in the guide cite continuous learning through reading cookery literature as a way to stay ahead of the game. Your game will be raised through using the Gourmet Guide as a reference book and trying out the collection of amazing recipes.
Have I cooked from the book? Not yet. I spent the day before father’s day falling in love with every recipe, and then cooked dinner for my dad from my heart. There are numerous recipes that I want to try, and I know that they’re going to make me a much better cook. Never stop learning.
Two lucky Capetonians stand the chance of winning the JHP 2016/2017 Gourmet Guide this week. So how do you win a copy? Simply head over to my Facebook page, find the post where I’ve shared the list of restaurants featured in the Gourmet Guide and comment which restaurant you’d most like to visit. To win, please show some love by liking our Facebook page and following @MapStudio on Twitter… share my posts for extra chances to win!
The Gourmet Guide retails at R300, this competition is open to anyone living in Cape Town, free delivery of prize limited to the areas where I do private chef work and catering – the Southern Suburbs and the Atlantic Seaboard (collection in Harfield Village can be arranged). The competition closes on Friday 24 July at midday and the winners will be announced the following Monday.
Thank you for entering and good luck!
